Mandarins Percussion Jerseys

The Mandarins Drum and Bugle are a world class drum corps hailing from Sacramento California. In 2019, I was hired to be a part of the battery staff, working more specifically as a bass drum technician.

At the beginning of the season, I was commissioned by the percussion section to create artwork that was to be printed on soccer jerseys for members and staff alike. I aimed to create a modern design that evoked the more athletic side of drum corps and I was inspired by the composition seen on European football kits. I went with a more minimalist and single-color design for the screen-printed artwork, and I teamed up with fellow staff member Vanessa Ramos to create a more traditional embroidered patch that was to complement the design on the front of the jersey,

This combination of media gave the Mandarins Percussion members and staff a more dynamic  soccer jersey that certainly garnered lots of attention everywhere we went. All in all, the jersey featured one-color printing on both the front and back, and embroidered path on the left chest, and heat-transferred custom text on the back.
